Dear Larry et al:

Now that your part of our wonderful remodeling is finished, we need to finish ours. We plug away, yet the call to distant places continues. As we were on our way home from New Zealand last week, I started thinking about my priorities. When we walked in the house, I picked up the phone and called the upholsterer and then the manufacturer of our new dining room chairs -- both were there delivering finished projects before we had the bags unpacked. However, the deliveries are the easy parts.

Friends thought we were crazy to be gone so much during our project with you. We had no choice if we wanted to keep other projects important to us also moving ahead. Possibly we didn't get to know some of your people as well as we would have had we been here more. The ones we did meet and work with we have great respect and liking for. Since I was able to be around a bit more than Tim, and involved in the shopping around for materials a bit more, my real joys to be around were Carl and Amy.

While one expects professionals to be just that, prompt, tidy, efficient, etc., it is not always the case. Federal staff definitely are. We loved the whole process, and possibly because we were gone so much, didn't really get that tired of it. We miss Carl's smiling, friendly face every day.

The new spaces are wonderful. Everything blends so well we are just delighted when we walk up the stairs and get first glimpse. The quality shows in all aspects. Maybe we knew that first Saturday when we walked into your showroom that Federal was for us. The irony of it is that that is not the way we generally operate -- without referral -- just walking in cold. It certainly worked for us this time. If you ever want to have clients see what you have done for us, we would be delighted.

One of the very positive things for us was that we felt we did not have to be there all the time to watch out for our interests. Several times Carl found errors, particularly in the plumbing, that could have caused much grief, but were headed off by his catching them. Sure, it took a few days more, but the time spent later on doing a major repair or revision would have been much more.

In the same context, your availability, Larry -- at almost a moment's notice -- was most appreciated. There are always times when you want to talk to the "head man" and you responded to us in a forthright, considerate, and understanding manner. For that we thank you. It meant a lot to us.

In sum, our whole experience with Federal was positive. The workmen were of high quality, they were prompt and clean, and they allowed us time to mull design problems a bit without breathing too heavily down our necks in the decision making time. It was a good experience, and we hope it was for Federal, too.

Should we take on another remodel, we'll be banging at your door. We've already recommended you to friends and will continue to do so.

We will have a party to show it all off, just don't hold your breath. Summer is already escaping from us!

Thanks again to all of you at Federal.

Sincerely,

T.W. & MJ.W.
